Engraving, honestly

Hand engraving cuts metal away and catches light along the cut; machine engraving is faster, more even, and shallower. Both last, and both eventually soften on a piece worn daily against clothing — a pendant will hold its engraving far longer than a ring will. Anything on this page with a blank face is thick enough to take a cut without going through.
